Filming
The first scenes I filmed for my advert were located in a Costa cafe. While these scenes were the first to be filmed, they are the last to be shown in the advert. The scenes involved a customer being given a hot drink by a Costa Coffee Barista. This shoot went very well because we were able to film in the location that we had always desired to film in for this scene. I was happy with the final product of our work in this shoot because we were able to film the shots required exactly as I imagined it on the storyboard with regards to the shot type we used, which was a medium shot of two people.
This is the cup we used for the studio scenes
After filming scenes on location in Costa, we moved into the studio to film the opening scenes of my advert. The scenes involved a demonstration of how a Costa Coffee is made and a barista drawing a heart on the coffee cup, to convey that every coffee is made with love. This shoot went very well because we were able to use studio lighting to help make the coffee cup the centre of the audience's attention. I was happy with the final product of our work in this shoot because we were able to film the shots exactly as I had imagined them on the storyboard.
Editing
This screengrab shows the editing process of my project
After wrapping filming, I began editing my project together using Adobe Premiere Pro. First of all, I arranged all of my footage together. A lot of my studio scenes came out with an orange tint because I forgot to use the white balance on the camera so therefore I fixed this in the editing process. Then, I added captions with a festive font to go with the Christmas theme I had chosen. In addition to using Christmassy fonts, I used a traditional Christmas song ("Deck The Halls") to make the audience feel festive when they watch the advert. Finally, to insure that the cuts in the music appear to be seamless and to make the text look professional, I have added "fade to" transitions so that I am able to conceal the cuts I have made in the music and also, I can make the text dissolve.
